IACL
came back to beat Savinos in the final game of their 3 game series to
advance to the Town Championship. Savinos' lead off batter, Jack
Nowinski scored the games first run in the top of the 1st. Nowinski
would open the game with an infield hit, advance on a stolen base and
eventually score on a throwing error. Savinos added a run in the 3rd
when Billy Mareski doubled and scored on a passed ball to give Savinos a
2-0 lead. Savinos would also tack on a run in the top of the 5th as
Jack Nowinski singled to open the inning, then stole 2nd and scored on
two wild pitches giving Savinos a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the
5th.
The bottom of the 5th inning for IACL began with
a groundout but the next 3 batters would reach base via walk to load
them up for Jalen Maharaja. With the bases loaded, Savinos decided to
intentionally walk Maharaja to bring in a run and make the score 3-1
Savinos. After getting a force out at the plate and with the tying run a
second, Max G hit a hard grounder to second and reached base safely as
the ball was mishandled scoring both Roddy Morinho and the game's tying
run, Jalen. At the end of 5 the score was knotted at 3.
After
a 1-2-3 top of the 6th, IACL managed to load the bases again in the
bottom of the 6th. With the bases loaded, Roddy M grounded into a
Fielder's Choice as a run was cut down at the plate. With the bases
still loaded, Jalen M worked a walk to bring in the game winning run and
a trip to the championship for IACL! Way to go boys! You proved all
year long, that you play to the final out!
