Stellatos
took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st as Cam Werner was driven in by a
shot to the left field fence by Logan Stitzer. IACL answered with 3
runs in the bottom half of the inning as Roddy Morinho led off with a
single, followed by a double by Jalen Maharaja. Both would come around
to score as Jose Baca hit a grounder to third and reached base safely on
an error. Baca would also go on to score on a passed ball.
Stellatos
tied the game at 3 in the top of the 4th as Anthony Pizzuti, Logan
Stitzer, & Mike Longo each hit consecutive doubles. Stellatos added
a go head run in the top of the 5th as Cam Werner drove home Joe
Sweeney to make the score 4-3 Stellatos. IACL had their top of the
lineup ready to bat in the bottom of the 5th but no damage was done as
Anthony Pizzuti, who after giving up 3 early runs, settled in and struck
out the side. In his last rec Little League pitching performance,
Pizzuti went 5 and a 3rd innings pitched, striking out 9 and walking
one.
Stellatos went scoreless in the top of the
6th and were 3 outs away from taking a 1-0 championship series lead
when IACL managed to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th. Anthony
Amaro who singled and advanced on a passed ball was able to score when
Abraham Martinez hit a grounder to SS that wasn't handled cleanly by the
first basemen, tying the score at 4. IACL kept Stellatos scoreless in
the top of the 7th and walked off in the bottom of the inning as Roddy M
who reached base on a HBP scored from first on a Jose Baca double! The
run gave IACL the 5-4 victory and a 1-0 lead in the best of 3
Championship series.
