There was a nail biter played on De Loy field tonight between Michael's and Coccia.

Whenever these two teams play, it always seems close.  Rocco Gencarelli made his first career start and pitched admirably for a rookie.  Coccia led off the game with 6 straight walks to Linsalato, Ianatelli, Kartanowicz, Olivieri, Szetela and Alonso.  The first four wound up crossing the plate.  Olivieri, Szetela and Alonso got the first 3 RBIs of the game.  All 3 were charged to Gencarelli.  From there Jordan Leon came on in relief.  While he walked the first batter, Alonso, who got the RBI when Kartanowicz crossed the plate.  He settled down with 2 straight strikeouts.  Reyansh Menon showed a good eye earning himself a base on balls RBI to end the inning on runs.

The home half of the first went quickly thanks to the strong left arm of Luke Ianatelli.  Dante Rizzolo did reach base on a hit by pitch.  Rizzolo managed to swipe two past ball bases.  However, Ianatelli was able to secure 3 total Ks to get out of the inning unscathed.

Leon started the inning with a strike out before Luke Linsalato reached base the same way he did the first with a base on balls.  Luke swiped two past ball bases before Luca Ianatelli helped his cause with an RBI single.  Kartanowicz earned his second walk before Leon was replaced by John Gibbons.  Gibbons started off quick with a strikeout.  Brayden Szetela put pressure on Gibbons with a full count walk to load the bases.  However Gibbons was able to get Alonso to tap one to him.  Gibbons showed a strong glove and made the throw to Anthony Turriello at home plate for the force out to end the inning.

Brandon De Ruvo started the 2nd inning off with a walk and a past ball steal.  Ianatelli was able to retire Anthony Fuller on strikes before Jack Fantacone earned himself a walk followed by a walk to Jordan Leon to load the bases.  Ianatelli settled down with two more strike outs to get out of the inning unscathed.  Ianatelli finished with 2 innings pitched, 6 strikeouts 3 walks and a hit batsmen.  He gave up no runs.

Coccia went quietly in the third thanks to some strong fielding by Rocco Gencarelli at 1st who started the inning with an unassisted out.

Michael's got on the board in the 3rd with a 2 out double by John Gibbons and an RBI single by Dante Rizzolo.  Danted added another past ball stolen base bringing his game total to 3 and his season total to 10.

Coccia had another quiet inning when they went down in order.  Brining the pressure onto Michael's to score 5 runs to win in what would be the last inning.  Rocco Gencarelli did his part with a lead off single.  He advanced to 3rd on 2 past ball steals during two consecutive strike outs.  Jack Fantacone hit an RBI Single and stole second base.  Jordan Leon then reached on a single and stole second himself.  This brought the winning run to the plate, but sadly the rally ended there.

Coccia won the game 5-2.  Despite being out hit 6-1 by Michael's.
