12U Softball, Michael’s Salumeria beats Lodi Jackels in another nail-biting victory, 8-7 in 5 innings.
For Michael’s Olivia De Ruvo (P) led it off in the circle, retiring the side 1-2-3 in the first inning. While in the bottom of the first with 2 outs Alexa Longo, Alexa Gibbons, and Madison Goff all drew walks and eventually all stole 2nd, 3rd, and Home Base to take a 3-0 Lead.
In the top of the second Jackels would score 2 runs, making it 3-2. Michael’s went scoreless in their half of the second.
Starting the top of the third the Jackals would take a 5-3 lead. In the bottom of the third, again with 2 outs, De Ruvo would single, stealing 2nd, 3rd, and Home. While Longo drew a walk, also stealing 2nd and 3rd. Gibbons was up next with a single to right field driving in Longo making it 5-5.
Jackels retake the lead 6-5 in the fourth. Bottom of the forth Kaitlyn Stiefel on a walk, comes around stealing home. Tying the game 6-6. Throughout the game Dani Nicolette and Goff’s defense kept us in the game with a few putouts by Leah DiMase.
In the top of the fifth Longo would come in for the relief. The Jackels would score once again to make it 7-6 going into the bottom of the fifth. Nicolette drew a walk and would come around to steal home, tying the game once more at 7-7. De Ruvo up next would walk, and advance to second on a single from Gibbons, eventually stealing home for the winning run, 8-7.
Arianna Sinchi, Alexis Granata, Sophia Scott, and Layla Lundholm all added to Michael’s Victory to improve to 6-0 for the season thus far.
