Signa leads Century to the Lyndhurst Little League Championship Series!!!!
Jack DePalma took the hill for Savino's. In the top of the 1st, De Palma would strike out 2 on his way to a 1-2-3 inning. Sam Signa started the game for Century 21. Nick Fortunato led off the bottom of the 1st for Savino's with a bunt single. Rocco Scerbo makes his return to the lineup with an RBI double. Scerbo would come around to score when Century threw the ball all over the infield. Signa would strike out the next two batters and get a ground ball out to end the inning.
In the 2nd inning, De Palma would get another 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout and 2 plays made by the Savino's defense. Signa got three strikeouts around a Lenny Checo single and an error to allow Danny Canaris get on base. After 2 innings the score was Savino's 2 and Century 21 0.
The Savino's defense continued to play well in the top of the 3rd inning. Sean Reed singled, but was erased by a fielder's choice. De Palma kept the high scoring Century offense to 0 runs through 3 innings. In the bottom of the 3rd, Scerbo singled and came around to score again on sloppy play by Century. Signa was able to get out of the inning by striking out the last batter of the inning.
Signa led off the 4th inning with a walk and came around to score on an RBI triple by Mason Young. Young scored on an RBI double by Damian Hernandez. Dylan Zwier continued his hot hitting off of the bench with an RBI double to drive in Hernandez. Century would only tie the score stranding the go ahead run on base. Signa pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 4th, striking out 2.
With one out in the top of the 5th, Derek Chaves legged out a single and came around to score on Sam Signa's double. Signa came around to score on the ball being thrown around the infield. Tyler Lopez got on base on an error and moved around the bases on a few more errors. In the bottom of the 5th Scerbo doubled, stole third and scored on a passed ball. Savion Jackson singled, but was stranded on base when Signa got a grounder back to the mound to end the inning.
After De Palma ran out of pitches, Century put the game out of reach in the top of the 6th with 7 runs. Reed, Chaves and Signa all walked and came around to score on passed balls. Lopez and Young got their jerseys scraped on back to back at bats and came around to score on Damian Hernandez's RBI single. Miguel Cedeno drove in Hernandez with an RBI single and came around to score on a wild pitch. In the bottom of the 6th Signa struck out the only batter he would face before reaching his pitch limit. Sean Reed would come in to close out the game. Lenny Checo singled, but Reed was able to get out the next 2 batters on ground outs to end the game.
Century will face the winner of the Cricket/Stellatos series. The deciding game three between them will be played on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 6:30 PM at Gallagher Field.

Damian Hernandez went 2-4 with a double and 2 runs scored. Miguel Cedeno went 1-3 with 1 run scored. Dylan Zwier went 1-2 with a double. Sean Reed went 1-3 with a run scored.
Sam Signa pitched 5 1/3 innings with 10 strikeouts. Sean Reed pitched 2/3 of an inning to close out the game.
Nick Fortunato went 1-3 with a run scored. Rocco Scerbo went 3-3 with a double and triple and 3 runs scored. Savion Jackson went 1-3.
