Century 21 and Stellatos are at it again!

Century 21 and Stellatos are at it again!

In a rematch of last year's championship series, Century 21 took on Stellatos. 

Stellatos started the scoring in the top of the 1st when Noah Gonzalez singled to right.  He got to 2nd on a missed tag.  He came around to score on a 2 out double by John Gibbons.  Sam Signa was able to keep him on 2nd getting the next batter to strike out to end the inning.  In the bottom of the 1st, pitcher Noah Gonzalez was able to get the first two outs on catches by Hunter Aiello and Gabriel Olivieri.  Century was able to push across 2 runs with back to back doubles by Damian Hernandez and Dante Rizzolo and a single by Miguel Cedeno. Cedeno was stranded when Gonzalez struck out the next batter to get out of the inning.

Signa was able to strike out the side in the top of the 2nd.  Gonzalez was able to get out of the second by getting 2 pop ups and striking out the 3rd batter of the inning.  After 2 innings the score was Century 2 and Stellatos 1.

Stellatos was able to 2 runs in the top of the 3rd when Gonzalez got on by being hit and Kris Estrada's single where both runners scored thanks to Century throwing the ball around the field.  In the bottom of the 3rd, Century answered back with 2 runs of their own.  Signa singled and Hernandez doubled, both runners were able to score when Stellatos returned the favor and threw the ball around the infield.

It was a scoreless 4th when both Signa and Gonzalez struck out the side.

In the top of the 5th Signa struck out the lead off hitter, but then walked 2 of the next 3 hitters but was able to get out of the inning unscathed thanks to Century making 2 plays on defense.  Century scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th.  Signa doubled and scored on a when Hernandez got on base on an error.  Rizzolo drove him Hernandez with a triple and scored on a passed ball.  Cedeno reached on an error but got thrown out at home while trying to steal home on a head's up play by the cather Anthony Smith.  Dylan Chaves scored after walking on a ground out by Dylan Zwier. 

In the top of the 6th, Signa started the inning by getting a hard ground out when Derek Chaves fielded the ball threw the runner out at first.  Signa ran out of pitches after walking the next hitter.  Dominic Van Orden came in to close out the game.  He faced 3 batters, Dylan Blair was the first one and singled.  Van Orden then shut the door by striking out the next 2 batters to end the game.  Century won the game 8-3.

For Stellatos:
Noah Gonzalez went 1-3 with a double and 2 runs scored.  Kris Estrada went 1-3 with 1 run scored.  John Gibbons went 1-3 with a double and RBI.  Dylan Blair went 1-3.
Noah Gonzalez pitched 4 innings striking out 5. 

For Century 21:
Sam Signa went 2-3 with a double and 2 runs scored.  Damian Hernandez went 2-3 with 2 doubles and 3 runs scored.  Dante Rizzolo went 3-3 with a single, double and triple, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.  Miguel Cedeno went 1-3 with 1 RBI.  Dylan Chaves scored 1 run.  Sean Reed went 1-3 with a triple.
Sam Signa pitched 5 and 1/3 innings, striking out 10 while picking up the victory.  Dominic Van Orden closed out the game pitching 2/3  of an inning while striking out 2.

It also should be said that in a pregame ceremony, Hunter Aiello and Anthony Smith were awarded the first Lyndhurst Little League Good Sportsmanship awards for their helping out a batter from another team by encouraging him to overcome his nerves and get into the batter's box in our Opening Day scrimmage game.  Way to go Hunter and Anthony!!!!!!!
